25-Month-Old, Handmade with Love

Dear Sweet Pea,

My sweet child!

You were able to string many words together and have the ability to tell me what you do not want me to do now. We were hearing more complete sentences.

I recalled on 11 October, you were able to tell me how you sustained an injury on your face due to the rocking horse. You were able to remind yourself that you need to be careful at intervals (really funny!)! You continued to pick out the pieces of toys I had forgotten to pack away during play time. I still loved to tickle you as I was addicted to your giggles! Perhaps stemming from your love for Diffy, you started to drink your soup like a little doggie by plunging your entire face into the bowl.

You had your first zoom lesson on 13 October. The school had to be closed for cleaning because there was an outbreak of covid virus. I had to admit it was amusing to watch you learn and sing alongside your classmates over the laptop. Thank you for trying so hard to focus on the lesson when you must be wondering why you were seeing your teachers and friends on the computer instead of in the classroom.

We got you a light pink helmet so you could start riding on your mini Vespa Scooter. We were so glad to have the ability to offer you a safe space in front of the house on the front porch to play with your scooter and to burn off some energy. You have not yet learnt how to do turns so we would be constantly steering the scooter for you lest you hit the gate and walls.

We were starting to feel the spirit of Christmas in the air with decorations being put up. One day, you came back from school one day and was able to sing the Jingle bell song. It was soon promoted to top the chart, becoming the Song of the Month.

My little sunflower in a pot!

The next celebration after your birthday would be Halloween. It would be your first proper Halloween and Mummy decided to handmade a costume for you. Since you have been a Sunshine in our lives, I intended to make you into a little Sunflower pot. Mummy went to Spotlight to purchase brown, green and yellow felt cloth including a glue gun which I intended to self educate myself on how to use it. Mummy was never quite the crafty one in Arts class but I was determined to make you your first costume. I hoped in life, you would always step up to challenges in life, keep on learning new skills and seek out different experiences. Armed with a glue gun and an idea in my head, I started working on it a few nights before Halloween Day. It was painstakingly finished on the night before Halloween Celebration in school. It wasn't made well, it looked rough and very amateur indeed! In fact, it even took a while to convince you to wear it as it might not have been very comfortable around the head area. However, once you took to it, you insisted on putting it on everywhere you went. It was pure fun to see you wear it.

Mummy finally added the finishing touches to your room. Daddy fixed up a floating wall shelf with a felt letter board and a small pot of plants with a few Knick knacks to decorate it. The pastel-coloured bookends have arrived and we could finally set up a small book display on top of the cabinet. We got a branch with little pegs and hung it on the wall along with the artwork you have done in school. With any luck, it would be 1 to 2 weeks before they all got pulled down by you.

We also finally booked our trip to London to attend Uncle James and Aunt Agnes's wedding in December, 2021! We have been telling you all about it and you were genuinely getting excited about the types of clothes you were going to wear as we told you it was going to be cold. We took a video announcing how you want to go to London to see Uncle James and Aunt Agnes. Since Western Australia's borders were still closed, Nanny was not able to make it to the wedding. However, she sent over 2 sets of outfits for you and a doll with changeable clothes.

We finally booked our trip to visit your uncle, James, for his wedding with Aunt Agnes! We have been telling you about it and you are genuinely getting excited! We took a video of you saying you wanna go to London. Nanny got you 2 sets of outfit and also a doll with clothes set. You seemed pretty set to travel!

XOXO,

Mummy and Daddy
