15th Month - The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Dear Sweet Pea,

This month marks the beginning of single syllabus words and cheekiness.

If times were normal, we would be heading to Perth for our annual Christmas celebration with the family. However, we were not allowed to travel hence you would be spending your 2nd Christmas in tropical Singapore. Then again, you would also be spending Christmas in the Summer heat if we were in Western Australia.

Since you did not indicate your music preference, Mummy continued to play Chinese Nursery Rhymes to you this month. Mummy is determined to raise you up to be effectively bilingual so you would not have the choice on the music played around the house before you could vocalize your thoughts. You are now able to utter out words like "Diffy", "妹妹" and "Poo Poo"! Clearly my Chinese influence over you needs to be stronger. Out of the few words you are able to say, you have a strong preference for the word "No". Everything is a "No" to you now. Do you want to listen to music? No! Do you want to go home? No!

A balancing act with the milk bottle

I am in love with your free spirited laugh along with that comically wide grin. You learnt to congratulate yourself on any achievement accomplished! For example, you would break out into contagious peals of laughter when you managed to balance the milk bottle on the top of the crib.

My sweet child, I hope you continue to keep this child-like innocence as you grow older. Celebrate all things big and small, take delight in anything that you have put an effort in, reward yourself on how far you have come as you run your own race.

On 14 Dec, you started being able to focus on one task at a time. For 5 minutes, you were able to channel all your energy on tearing apart Mummy's Christmas gift. Still, that was an achievement for the girl who could never sit still.

On 22 Dec, you broke our hearts. Daddy told me to put you on the bed as I was preparing to head out. I specifically told Daddy that you are now very agile and dart around very fast, hence he needed to pay extra attention to you. Daddy assured me that I was over thinking and his daughter is not an "idiot". Barely 5 seconds have passed, before I heard Daddy let out a cry. You have decided to leap off the bed while Daddy was putting on his shirt. If not for his quick reaction to grab hold of your legs to break the fall, you would have fallen completely off the bed. Unfortunately, your forehead came on impact with the sliding doors railings and sustained a deep cut across your left eyebrow. It took you approximately 2 to 3 weeks to heal.

You are now absolutely in love with the water fountain at Raffles Shopping Centre and can be completely mesmerized by it for hours. I enjoyed standing next to you, observing your reactions and seeing you laughing and exposing your cute little incisors.

You took turns to lavish your love on both your parents this month. It was truly a season of gifting! Daddy was the lucky recipient of your sloppy kisses this month and he thought each of them felt more like a "lick" than a kiss!

I love to watch you sleep, legs curled up, arms tucked in close to your body with your pouty lips slightly ajar, precious and adorable in my sight. You keep evoking new emotions in my life especially when I see you sleeping like a baby while I could hardly catch a wink of sleep!

What a most wonderful time of the year! What a treat to be part of your growth and progression in the last 12 months.

XOXO,

Mummy & Daddy
